What Is Schengen Visa Validity?
Schengen visa validity refers to the period during which your visa allows you to enter the Schengen Area. However, your visa also specifies the number of days you are allowed to stay.
Even if your visa has not expired, you may still be unable to enter the Schengen Area if you have already used all allowed days.
Key Things Your Visa Determines
- The first date you are allowed to enter the Schengen Area
- The final date your visa expires
- The number of days you are allowed to stay
- The number of entries permitted (single, double, or multiple entry)
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the day of entry and exit count?
A: Yes. In the Schengen Area, both the day you arrive and the day you leave count as full days of stay, even if you arrive at 11:59 PM.
Q: My visa is still valid by date, but the calculator says 0 days. Why?
A: This happens if you have already used the "Duration of Stay" (number of days) printed on your visa sticker. You cannot stay longer than that number, even if the expiry date hasn't passed.
Q: What if I have a multiple-entry visa?
A: You must add every single trip you have taken under this visa into the "Travel History" section to see your true remaining balance.
